Administrative Support

Administrative support is crucial for meeting the needs of schools, families, and communities. The JCESC offers the following Administrative Support programs.

Building Administrative Capacity

Building Administrative Leadership Capacity is an ongoing, 10-20 hour, job-embedded professional development program collaboratively developed each year by the district superintendent and ESC professional development staff.  Program content is district data driven and varies yearly.  Examples of program content are books, journal articles, reports, studies and survey results, and standards.

Student Success Council (SSC)

Monthly meetings of participating school district Assistant Superintendents or Administrative Assistants are facilitated by ESC staff.  Topics center around instructional leadership issues and planning of professional development for district staff.  A PD component is embedded in the meeting for personal and/or professional growth of the team members as well.

Ohio Improvement Process (OIP) Facilitation

District and building leadership teams are assisted with the self-study process utilizing the “Ohio Decision Framework” model.  Salient aspects of this approach include appropriate structure, pace, control, and focus of task.  The role of a “critical friend” is assumed while helping personnel study data to improve student performance.

Principals' Leadership Academy

A collaboration of four presentations by Franciscan University Graduate Education Department staff and ESC staff for elementary and secondary building administrators and district central office staff are planned annually.  Topics are determined from needs assessment of stakeholders and are presented in a capacity-building format with a segment of the program centered around networking among participants.

Principal Walk-Throughs

The Principal Walk-Through professional development program is designed for principals, previously trained, but not fully utilizing the walk-through model.  The program focuses on revisiting the rationale and protocol for walk-throughs, using walk-throughs to promote and support a collaborative atmosphere and conversation about teaching and learning, and gathering data about instructional practice and student learning.

Superintendents' Cabinet Meetings

JCESC facilitates monthly meetings for Superintendents, post secondary education leadership representatives, and state regional staff to discuss common policy and procedures, educational initiatives, and other administrative items of managerial nature.
